My day on Red White and Blue Blog hop

MASTER SCHEDULE FOUND HERE

Welcome to day five of the Red White and Blue Blog hop! For my first time visitors let me tell you a wee bit about myself. I go by Mrs. Pickles here in the blog world and in addition to my newly found quilting addiction hobby I also love to garden, cook and craft. However, in reality I really just post about whatever is on my mind sometimes it makes sense sometimes it doesn’t...LOL So take a seat and stay awhile I hope everyone enjoys their stop here!

I would like to give a BIG SHOUT OUT AND THANK YOU to Madame Samm for coming up with the RWB blog hop and for Jane for putting it all together. I can’t wait to see all the amazing blocks everyone creates! Blog hops both inspire and scare the heck out of me!! I am glad that I have had the opportunity to take part J

My first block is something that I had been wanted to try for awhile now....The disappearing 4 patch block. It starts off so simple and ends so complicated looking. It’s not perfect, but for a first attempt I am pretty happy with it. I added a little border around it to just finish it off.

My 2nd block I had a dream about and tried to recreate it. If I just saw this block somewhere in the real world and cannot recall it just let me know

My 3rd block is a framed pinwheel. For the We bee learning bee I asked my fellow hive mates to make me framed pinwheels a couple of ladies were nice enough to send 2 blocks so I needed one for to finish off the quilt....so why not rwb!

Okay by my 3rd block and all this red white and blue I was feeling very American or French or British or Russian or Norwegian or well you get the picture there are a lot of countries with red white and blue in their flags....LOL However, I am CANADIAN and my Canadian blood didn’t like that so I decided to break the rules a wee bit and make this

Red...white...and blue background

And since my husband is from Switzerland I couldn’t leave him out.....so Red...white...and blue background

Okay that is it for now I hope you all enjoyed your visit here today and didn’t mind too much that I got a bit cheeky in the end :P

Make sure you go and check out what the other ladies are up today and check out Jane’s site for the full list of participants J

  45. What fun and welcome to the addiction that is quilting :) I've been quilting for about 8 years now myself and I can't imagine my life without it now, nor all the wonderful, wonderful friends I've made through the craft. Your blocks are wonderful and even more special are the ones you made just especially for yourself ... sans blue :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. All your blocks are GREAT! I especially like your last few red, white and blue flags. Very clever indeed!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Fun blocks to make for other countries!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I think it was great that you included your international heritage into your quilting! I just love knowing all you wonderful ladies from other countries...it's exciting to think that little ol me, someone on a small rural farm in the State of Alabama, part of the Deep South here in America, can sit at my computer and in the matter of just a few clicks or key strokes converse with all of living in places I've only read about in books! It proves to me that people and especially, quilters, have good hearts , love their families, and have the same hopes and desires regardless of what country they live in. Our homes are at the heart of everything we do! I love your blocks and thank you for reminding me of the diversity of our group!
    Blessings
