Computer Down

My laptop decided to act up on Wednesday so I might not be able to post for a bit. I am using Mr. Pickles work laptop to post this, but it doesn't seem to like blogger to much..lol

Hopefully I will be able to get my laptop fixed this week-end, otherwise I will try to post via my ipad which may or may not happen depending on whether or not it wants to cooperate...lol

WIP 22/01/2014

It is almost 8pm here in Saskatchewan which means I am a little late in linking up to WIP Wednesday.

I will be honest I pretty well slept the whole darn day. After 20 days of having a panic attack every time I tried to sleep I am finally back to being able to control them a bit better and well.... sleep. Nights are still a struggle, but I figure if I can get in a couple of hours during the day then I should take what I can get...lol

I am still working on my  January Goal is to Finish my wonky star table runner. ( created by Cathy over at
 http://cathy-blueberrypatch.blogspot.ca/2013/11/wonky-wony-little-star-table-runner.html )

Once I cleared the cobwebs out this evening I sandwiched my quilt and started to quilt it. I bough some christmasy metallic thread a while back and decided to use that. It was a struggle at first using it while doing FMQ, but after a few choice words I got the hang of it and the rest went quite smoothly. Now my FMQ isn't perfect, but I really enjoy the squiggly look so that is what I decided to do.

Goal for next week. To put on binding and finish this puppy :)

It's a .....

I had my 32 weeks OB appointment yesterday and the baby and baby mam are doing just fine.

At every appointment the ultrasound machine is in the room, but when I ask if they are going to look at the baby the Dr always says everything is fine so no need to look. The reason I always want them to look is that we had no idea what the sex of the baby was and we wanted to know.

Here in Canada you generally only get 2 ultrasounds and they are free of course. The first is around week 13 to check for Downs and date the baby and the second is around week 20 for a full anatomy scan. After that you only get another ultrasound if the Dr requests it. So if you don't find out the sex at your 20week appointment then you generally don't find out till the big day. There is one private 3D u.s place in the city here where you can pay to look at the baby, but in my view it's way too pricey. For a 5min appointment to determine the sex with no guarantees the cost was 125....now that buys a lot of diapers so we decided not to waste our money.

Yesterday the Dr. decided to use the ultrasound and take a look to see how the baby is sitting. Mr.P was unable to attend since he is out of town, but my mother had come with me since she had the day off. Mr.P was going to come to my Feb 3rd appointment and we were going to ask again then.......However, since this was the first time that the Dr was actually going to use the machine I had to ask....so can you see the sex of the baby?? I figured that there was a chance he might not check next time and I had to strike while the opportunity presented itself..lol

The Doctor was quite surprised that we didn't already know and seem unaware that the baby didn't show us on our 20wk U.S. So he took and quick look and it was quite apparent what the baby was right away.......

IT'S A BOY!!!!!!

I knew from the moment we found out we were pregnant that it was going to be a boy, but it is nice to have the proof.

WIP 15/01/2014

Here we are at WIP Wednesday yet again...gesh that week sure goes by doesn't it!
As you know blah blah blah cold, blah blah blah whiny, blah blah blah didn't get much done....lol

As you may recall my January Goal is to Finish my wonky star table runner. ( created by Cathy over at
 http://cathy-blueberrypatch.blogspot.ca/2013/11/wonky-wony-little-star-table-runner.html )

I had to fix one block as I noticed in my last pic that it was turned the wrong way around. I then proceeded to join all my squares together and low and behold I gots me a flimsy :)

I bought this fabric on sale before the holidays to use as backing fabric and I think it will go perfectly. I just hope it doesn't run when I wash it.

Candyland by Max and Nobie for Moda

Okay next step for the upcoming week is to baste and quilt the runner.

Whiny garden plan..lol

Well whiny pants aka me is still sick. Going on 14 days now...gesh. I will admit though I am a bit better and able to breath through my nose now for a good part of the day. As one who is prone to getting sinus infections my whole life I must say that the fact that this infection brought on sever panic attacks was a first for me. I do suffer from panic disorder so I am no stranger to panic attacks, but being stuck in a 6+ day panic attack just because of a stuffed up nose really irked me...lol Once the dr gave the go ahead to take dristan last Monday the panic went away, but since I can't take it everyday its been off and on panic city.

I am slowly catching up on all my blog reading. For the most part I am viewing them on my ipad, which for some reason won't let me open more than one at a time and makes commenting even harder. So I apologize for not commenting for the most part. I will also admit that I am just looking at the snap shots on blogger and then marking them as read......lol I am a rebel...or lazy or both...hahah

I have been thinking about the garden lately, even though it looks like this

Yes that stick coming out of the ground is a pitch fork. We left it there to mark where the fire-pit is
it is 12:26pm, but this pic makes it look like 5pm....lol trust me it is a little bit brighter outside, but not much

I really want to try something different this year that will help me with my inability to keep the weeds in check. Last year I read about keeping rows close together and putting straw down and thought that was the solution. I tried it and failed. Granted in June I wasn't able to weed the garden on doctors orders and then when my Dad got sick in July the garden took a back seat to visiting in the hospital everyday. When he passed away in August the weeds had fully taken over and although my mother and Mr.P tried their best to tame the weeds it was just too much.

This year I am going to try something different. Something that I came up with in my head. Something that may or may not work, but I am doing it anyhow..lol
So what am I doing you ask...well let me tell you. It's nothing fancy I am just going to plant things in little 2x2 plots. Now I know I have a huge garden and this sounds stupid, but I think it will work. So for example I will have a 2x2 square of peas and then a 3 foot gap and then another 2x2 square of peas followed by a 3 foot gap and so on. So that the whole garden will look like a giant checkerboard. The 3ft gap will allow me Mr.Pickles to quickly run the tiller up and down the rows and leave the weeds to just come up in little patches with the fruit and veggies.

so what do you think....am I crazy or do you think that might work?

Okay off to have some lunch

WIP 08/01/2014

Here we are in 2014 already and I haven't done much sewing at all. Good thing that wasn't my new years resolution...lol
The only think I have been working for the past week is this stupid sinus cold that wont go away. I am use to taking OTC meds and kicking cold and flu bugs in the butt asap, but alas one of the joys of being pregnant means I just have to suck it up...even when I can't...LOL

I did get a bit of work done before the New Year and I will post about that today. As you may recall I was working on a Christmas table runner. Did I get it ready in time for Christmas....well no, but I should be ready for Christmas 2014!

It looks like a hot mess right now, but once its all sewn together it should be quite nice...fingers crossed..LOL

It is called a wonky star table runner and there is a great tutorial over at http://cathy-blueberrypatch.blogspot.ca/2013/11/wonky-wony-little-star-table-runner.html
