WIP 19/02/2014
The past week was a hard one. The panic attacks have started coming more frequently. Now anytime I get a wee bit stuffy or heaven forbids warm BAM they start hitting me. I am really hoping that it is just a surge or a drop in baby hormones that is causing this.
Anyhoo speaking of babies I am still in baby supply mode as far as sewing goes. However, I think as of this week I have all the important items I wanted to have made before the little one comes officially done. Nope that is a lie I just remembered I want to make a nursing cover. I know it's not on the list, however after looking at a few in stores they are cheaply made and over priced so I'll try to make my own
I must say when I decided to not take part in any online quilting bee's this rounds I thought I wouldn't get any sewing done. However, with the pressure off from not having to make blocks I have gotten more done than I have in a long time.
Okay now for
February's Goal's
PeePee TeePee's were a success. I think the whole concept is hilarious, but after seeing them in the stores and the price I thought I could whip up a few of my own. I am sure they will come in handy or at least be an interesting topic to discuss..LOL
I also made a few baby wipes using micro fiber cloth. As I mentioned last week my mother made me quite a few burb clothes so I decided to not make any an instead try my hand at a few wipes. I had the foresight to put on my walking foot when sewing these up so working with the microfiber wasn't even half as bad as I thought it would be. I think I will make a couple more of these
Next weeks Plan

Baby Quilt
This week I am going to turn my attention back to my baby quilt. As you will recall it is at this point.
Now here is the question. Do I actually sandwhich and quilt this or do I just sew the backing to the top and make more of a blanket? Option 2 would be easier, however, I am not totally sure what purpose this quilt/blanket will serve yet...carseat cover, using on the floor for tummy time or just a cuddle blanket....or something else..lol
2014 Sewing Mission Statement
In order to try and get some UFO's done this year I am going to try and keep my current to do list small and just work on one thing at a time. I am going to try and not start anything "new" but instead take one thing off of my no progress list each month.
No progress Items to date (these are projects that have appeared on the to do list for 1 or more months with you guessed it.....no progress

@The Needle and Thread Network. Make sure you hop on over there and see what everyone else is working on too.
The fact that you are doing any sewing at ALL with a wee babe in tow is commendable! Those teepees will come in handy, for sure. When my boys were tiny I'd drape washcloths to protect myself and our surroundings, especially when directed to lay my change pad on my hosts BED - eek!!!

Thank you. I am just doing a wee bit at a time once a week which makes it easier for me to get things done. I am hoping I don't need the teepees, but I don't want to chance it either..lol
DeleteYou make me wish I still had a sewing machine! Being a slender man and not fond of American style box tailoring... I would love to just purchase fabric and use those articles I have that do fit well as patterns.
ReplyDeletepeepee teepee. I'm going to need to look up what that is...
Ahh! Looked it up. Smart idea!
DeleteI have only made a few items of clothing for myself which have all been pj bottoms. I don't know if I would have the talent to make anything else..lol
DeleteYay peepee teepees are clever and extremely funny..lol
PeePee TeePee! LOL. That cracks me up! My son was not a squirter, but I know Mommies who have said their little guy did every time the air hit! I watched a girl that was that way! Only thing to do there is place diaper VERY fast! Hehe
ReplyDeleteGreat post Mrs P! i tried to comment earlier but it has not shown up. love the PP TPs ! I have just made a couple for my upcoming grandson!!
ReplyDeletegreat projects, and I am glad you are getting some sewing time in; hopefully it will help with the anxiety.
