Garden report 16/06/15

Although its been pretty darn dry here the garden is still doing pretty good. My potatoes are finally making an appearance and just about everything else is up and doing well...but patchy. Even though we have been watering using the back well it's still pretty dry. Its keeping the weeds down though so that works too I guess..lol

I am going to have to reseed 1 plot of peas as nothing has come up. All the other pea plots look like this
Okay not quite like this, this one is a bit patchy now that I look at it..lol For the most part they are doing better

The onions are a bit patchy too.

Beans are fairing well, but again patchy

I am going to have to reseed all of my beets. Only 1 plant came up out of two plots. So I will reseed tonight with a new seed packet and see what happens. Something also ate all my kohlrabi so those will be reseed as well.

The tomatoes and cabbage are doing great. I got 5 extra tomato plants from my MIL to fill in the gaps for the 2 that didn't survive the transplant and the 3 I ended up being short.

Our pesky fox neighbours are back again this year wreaking havoc. They have eaten/dug up my one and only pumpkin, one melon and one butternut. I hope they leave the rest and move away.

We also got the crate from Mr.P's work all done and planted. We plan on fabing up a liner next year so the whole top will be soil. This year I just used planters. I have three types of lettuce and basil growing alongside some flowers. I also have a container of spinach growing, but not in this pic

WIP 10/06/2015

There hasn't been a lot of sewing going on here lately, but there has been some cutting. I am still torn on the Greek cross quilt. However, I am leaning towards adding a border after all. I am hoping to get the back for the snails trail quilt pieced this week.I have no idea how I am going to quilt it though.

In the meantime I have moved onto another project from the no progress list. The Classic Paint box quilt I started with the Bee Creative Bee.

These are the blocks that I have from the ladies of  Bee Creative and  Bee's helping bee's. Which means I have to make 52 more blocks to get the 80 I need to complete the quilt.

So far I have 8 blocks cut out......so there will be a lot more cutting in the near future..lol

Next weeks goal. Get all my cutting done

Current WIP
1. We bee learning jan to june 2013: Snails Trail quilt: Goal to get quilt top done, Get backing done and start quilting
2. We Bee Learning Greek Cross Block: Needs border
3. Classic Paint Box: Cut and sew together 52 more blocks

2015  Sewing Mission Statement
In order to try and get some UFO's done this year I am going to try and keep my current to do list small and just work on one thing at a time. I am going to try and not start anything "new" but instead take one thing off of my no progress list each month.
No Progress List

we bee learning july-dec 2013: Goal to get quilts top done
Countless orphan "hop blocks" 20+
We bee learning 2012 group 2- I am still stuck on a second border for this one. I tried out a bunch of colours again and hate everything....Might just go with white
July 2011 BOM- I have made some progress, but forgot to take a pic!
Wonky Bee quilt: thinking
International stashes: I need to sew blocks together and quilt.
Christmas qal quilt: sandwich and quilt
Fall Wall Hanging-I have started to do a bit of the embroidery
Sew Happy Geek QAL- Blocks  9,10,11 and 12 still need to be done
Table runner- I have pieced this sucker together. Now I just need to get the backing on and quilt it
We Bee Learning group one Quilt- The grey fabric for my sashing came in. Now I need to get to work
2011 BOM- Since it is 2013 you can see I am a bit behind on this one. July-dec still need to be done

Completed Projects 2015
1. Baby Quilt: Finished Feb 4th 2015 Here
2. Baby soft blocks: April 2015

Garden update 09/06/15

It is finaly offical...the garden is in. Okay that is a lie there are still a few more things to add the the garden. However, for the most part it is all in. I have a few tomato plants that didn't survive the tranplant into the garden and I still have to plant my spinach and lettuce and a few flowers..but pretty well done

Here are a few pics of my seedlings. They really turned out great this year

Here is the back garden. I think this will be a HUGE mistake, but I planted pumpkin, cucumbers, melon, watermelon, spaghetti squash, and butter nut squash. I plan on putting  3 out of the 7 on trellises, however, i think everything is just going to be one big mish mash!

Here is the main garden looking east. Its hard to see in this pic, but I put everything in 3x3 plots again. They are marked out in green twine It makes it easier to till the garden and thus keep the weeds down

Here are all the containers i planted....lol
 25 tomatoes and 16 cabbage

So we had the driest May on record and June is following suit. At least we got the back pump working so we can water from the well.....hopefully it doesn't go dry!

Thanks for stopping by.

Catching up

As you may recall from my last post lil pickle had four molars coming in and I wasn't getting much done. Well it turned out she ended up with a nasty cold with an ear infection in addition to cutting molars so the house wasn't getting much sleep at all. Luckily lil pickles meds kicked in after a few days and she was on the mend. Unfortunately I ended up catching her cold which amplified into something ungodly...lol I of course didn't go to the doctor because I couldn't get an appointment till this Friday....stupid yes..lol

I took the pictures below on the 19th of May the day before I got sick and I haven't turned on the computer since then. I am on the mend now but still sick and lucky Mr.P has just caught the bug...eeeek Man colds are the worst!

So long story short I am going to play catch up on my blog posts, comments and blog reading over the next fews days as long as my energy stay and lil pickle continues to refuse to nap...lol

Here is the back garden after Mr.P tilled it. This year I am going to plant all my vine plants back here  on trellises

Here is the main garden. I wish it good stay this weed free all year!!

Its hard to tell in this picture, but my mother and I thinned out the raspberry bushes and transplanted a few of the stalks to make the patch bigger.

More on the garden to come in the next few days
