BWNP Report 10/09/2013

So what is a BWNP report? Well it is very similar to the WIP or Work In Progress report that I use to link up to on Wednesdays. However, when it comes to sewing of late it I have been Barely Working and Not A Lot of Progress...LOL

Nonetheless I am linking up with WIP Wednesday over at Freshly Pieced and @The Needle and Thread Network.  Make sure you hop on over there and see what everyone else is working on too.

As many of you know I host 4 online quilting bee’s and take part in one of them called We Bee Learning. As the July-December bee rolled out my Dad ended up in the hospital and things went down from there ending in his passing away on august 1st. Now I chose to still take part in the bee. Was that as mistake....yes...of course I didn’t go in knowing that just 7 days in my Dad would end up in the hospital but once that happened and my life got turned upside down I should have found a replacement. However, I didn’t thinking in some stupid way that taking part in the bee would be good and keep my mind off of the gravity of the situation.

What really happened you ask....? Well let me tell you I became what is known as a bad bee. Yes here I am the host of the bee and I was behind on my blocks and not just a couple of weeks at sometimes I was a month behind. My life fell apart and so did I and well sewing just was not a priority when I really wasn’t sure how I was going to go on living when my best friend, my dad was just never coming back.

My bee mates were beyond understanding and gave me extra time. I am finally caught up now just finishing up September’s blocks. So I thought I would show you that I have been up to a bit of untimely sewing.
July

August (which now that I look at it I think I did it wrong!! But they are already at their new home)

September

Octobers block will be a broken herringbone. Something I have done before so it shouldn’t take me too long to whip three up.

So besides the block I mentioned about there is not a lot of progress going on...but I am trying. After I get those 3 blocks done I am going to pick something easy from the list below and get cracking!!

  1. Life happens. There is not much to say beyond that and that I am so sorry for your loss. I'm glad to hear your bee mates were understanding, though in this community I would expect nothing less. You are, as always, in my prayers.

  2. I think you're being too hard on yourself. People do understand that sometimes life gets crazy for one reason or another, and they also know that sooner or later it settles down again. Try not to stress about what you haven't done and enjoy what you have achieved instead.

  3. I'm in much the same boat as you, but we can only do what we can do. I think the greatest art is accepting that we are human and let life take care of itself. I really like your colours in the blocks.

  5. I wouldn't worry about being late with the blocks. Aside from a traumatic year, everyone knows you're good for the blocks. Besides, they're probably going to be sitting in people's WIP piles for a while anyway, so being late doesn't matter :)
I hope you're doing ok. It's hard to lose such an important person in your life and even harder to have something happen in your life that you wish they were around for because it would have made them so happy. Take care and lotsa hugs
