WIP 04/12/13

I am finally getting back to sewing and it has been nice to have a few WIP reports to actually report about in the past few weeks. My big project to get done before Christmas keeps getting put on the back burner, but as I have been saying a lot lately in "real" life. I'll do it next year...lol

If you recall on my Saturday post I showed you that I had made some progress on my baby quilt. I took the strips sewed them together and made 40 3.5" pairs. I have now joined those 40 pairs to make 20 6.5" four patch blocks. They came together nice and easy and my seams matched up pretty good too....not that the baby will care that much or well at all...LOL

I also cut out my minky squares. I have never worked with minky before, but I see it being a challenge since it is so slippery and stretchy. The next step in the quilt is pretty easy I just take 7 blocks alternating between the four patch and the monky. sew them together and repeat until all the blocks are used. I am hoping to get that done today as long as the minky doesn't get the best of me

To do list for December

Christmas Table runner: I know what I want to make I just need to start it
Baby quilt: Making some progress as you can see above
Christmas pot holders: This will be easy I just have to start
Christmas candle mat aka the table runner that isn't working out: I have posted the start of that runner before, but I cannot see how to turn my wonky tree into a table runner...so i am going to add a few borders and see what happens.

  1. I helped a new student use a very similar colour minkie and it turned out lovely! It was one big piece so a bit easier but I'm sure that baby is going to love it!! Well done!

  3. I love the idea of mink, but wonder how it is to actually sew up. Good luck to you! I'm looking forward to seeing how it all works out!
