WIP 22/04/15

I did it I reached my goal of the week and got all the squares sewn together. I will be honest it didn't go as planned and I blame my choice to not scrap the smaller blocks to make 2 more as the cause of my frustration.
The sides of the "snails" don't quite go together, however even on the blocks that were the same size they don't match so maybe they are not suppose to. Nonetheless it left me quite kerfuddled (*** confused, angry, sad***) I also have one block that is puffy. No matter how many times I rip it out and resew it back in its still puffy. I am going to leave it, but I am sure I will be cursing my choice when it comes time to quilt it.
However, for the most part the middles of each match up perfectly so I am going with focusing on that.. :)

I am thinking of going with a grey border. What do you think?? I know its hard to visualize it with that one strip of grey, but think I like it. I might do a thin grey border and then a larger aqua one. Do you thin I should go solid or pattern?

Either way I am going to have to order fabric for the borders so this is going to be put on hold for a bit. However, that means time to work on something new off of the no progress list.

For the next project I simply went into my wip drawer and pulled out the first thing on top.

2015  Sewing Mission Statement
In order to try and get some UFO's done this year I am going to try and keep my current to do list small and just work on one thing at a time. I am going to try and not start anything "new" but instead take one thing off of my no progress list each month.

  1. Pretty! I like the idea of the thin gray border and then an aqua border. That would set off the piecing really well. I think my "no progress" list is longer than yours!

  2. I think your quilt top is stunning. I have wanted to make a Snail quilt. However, my UFO list is about like yours and I also will not allow myself to start a new quilt until I get finished with what I already have started.

Come visit my blog--you will see the similarities...

  3. I like the interlocking nature of the snail blocks. I'd recommend keeping the borders in a solid color so that the focus is on the patterns made by the blocks.

  4. Very pretty quilt! The block works so well with the colors you chose. I think a grey border would look great, though any of the other colors probably would too. :-)

  5. Love it! It's so nice to see you got these blocks together and are happy with them. I agree with your suggestion for a thin grey border followed by an aqua border. I think an aqua print would work if it "reads like a solid". I like your sewing mission statement. Looking forward to following your progress!

  6. I like your border idea. I'm thinking solids, or textured almost solids. And the red as a binding :)
