My day to play
Hello and Welcome
to my stop on the
April Showers Blog Hop!!
to my stop on the
April Showers Blog Hop!!
Before you read any further I must warn you that today’s
stop is strictly a black tie affair. Yep that’s right to read this post I am
requiring you to be in your best black tie attire.
What you aren’t wearing that...hmmmm well okay I will give
you a pass, but just you so don’t tell anyone else....LOL
I had a few mug rug idea’s running around in my head before
this
hop was even announced and time and time again black and white seemed to
be calling to me so I decided to have my own little
Black Tie Affair
The first mug rug is a simple patch work design. It
is simple, but the black and white make it is appear to be more than it is!
I really love how the quilting turned out on the back of this one
My second mug rug is a play on a zig zag
block. I found it hard to keep the pattern with so few squares, but it still
works
And finally I thought I needed a wee bit of colour so I
created this. I tried something new to me and pieced the strips directly onto
the batting. I then added a border and folded it over to create the binding. It
was nice and easy!
Even though it is April we still have A LOT of snow out here. This picture was taken on a 6ft tall pile of snow covering my garden.
I would like to thank Madame Samm and Erin for
creating this event and hosting it. I for one am really looking forward to all
the inspiring mug rugs! Speaking of inspiration check out the lovely work my fellow hosts created today
Hayley @ Mrs. Pickles < this is me!
Thank you for stopping by today and joining in on my black tie affair. I hope you had fun!
Love your mug rugs! Black tie - I hope my black pjs were good enough! Hehe! Great work!
ReplyDeleteSorry, can't find my black tie - so I put my black tuxedo on - Moe the tuxedo cat is on my lap. Even in all that snow they shine!

ReplyDeleteSo much fun dressing up for lunch....thank you. I love your black and white mug rugs, Haley.
ReplyDeleteYou did a wonderful job on your black and white (and teal/turquoise) mug rugs--the quilting is just beautiful to look at! Sometimes I prefer looking at just the backs of my pieces and admiring the quilting too!
ReplyDeleteLove the B & W designs!
ReplyDeleteThis time of morning you would be lucky to see me in anything but jammies, slippers and robe--such is the retired life, LOL.
ReplyDeleteThe black and white is so dramatic but wow, that zip of bright turquoise takes it right over the top. Atop that pile of snow makes it all the more contrasting. No gardening yet till it finally decides it is spring at your house!
I love the black and white. I often do the 'fold-over' binding. I know it's not the accepted standard, but it often works well. Funny, I hadn't used it on a mug rug, that's next. :0
ReplyDeleteI love your mug rugs...very classy! Here in Newfoundland we still have snow too. Actually, it's snowing today. Come on Spring!
