My first WIP is actually done, however I am including it anyhow..LOL I finally got the HST pinwheel finished yesterday and I think it turned out pretty darn great! My points are really really close to matching up and I didn’t even have to bring out the ole seam ripper once.

The only downside was.....I bought some spray starch since the instructions said it would make it easier to work with the fabric. I sprayed it on my HST and of course they were all wet. I didn’t know if I was supposed to let them dry or iron them or what and neither the instructions nor the directions on the can were any help. So I just sewed them together while they were wet. The whole time thinking this is stupid why this would be the better option and cursing the whole time. When I finished the first one I went to press my seams open and gave the fabric a quick press with the iron and guess what...the fabric got firm....LOL Oh my I am such an idiot...Can you tell that I never ever iron clothes!! So once I discovered that I was an idiot I went ahead and quickly gave the rest some heat so it made it much easier to finish the square....oh my was my face red!

I also started working on my January block for the Wonky Bee that I am in. The package only arrived on Saturday so I am trying to get it finished ASAP so I can mail it back to her. I have all my background squares cut and now I just have to sew my triangles on. That is the scary part since I am afraid I am going to run out of triangle fabric...deep breaths and careful cutting will be the plan for this afternoon.

Current WIP or things that need to get done in February are
Weeks 3,4,5,6 of the Sew Happy Geek QAL – need to print off patterns

  1. Thanks for the chuckle. Hope you get your project finished. The downside to starch is that the whole quilt has to be washed then to get all that gunk out.

  6. I like the starch story too. You have been busy girl. Getting fabric cut and ready to just sit and sew is the way I like to do it.

I like the pinwheel block. I tried to make one but my points didn't match up. Need to talk it apart.......later. haha
